Hi-Jinx with the Goons on a High

Yes yes yes yes YES!

Last night’s Yulefest dinner and show at the Metropole was as CraZy as it gets!

We ended up having to find an IMPOSTER! because our own John Stretton a.k.a. Peter Sellers was struck down by a severe case of the Lurgi the night before and was unable to perform.

So while John was resting up (probably with a Brandy or two), we procured the services of accomplished actor and voice-over artiste Peter McAllum, who stepped up and onto the stage with the rest of the lads… and they had one wild time up there.

Peter McAllum (rear left) and Robin Queree (front right) with Gon Type fans after the showSo did the audience given the clamour for photos with the cast after the show. Here’s a pic of few of those fans with our imposter Peter, and Robin (Spike) Queree.

Today’s special afternoon tea and show is on at 3pm… there a few tickets left, which you’d better grab because all the rest of the tickets for next week’s closing show are sold out.

Ho Ho Ho it’s the The Goon Show…. LIVE!

Here’s Simon Lenthen aka Neddy Seagoon giving the camera the full force of the Christmas-in-July festivities.

Last Saturday’s show was a hit.

On Saturday 15th July at the Metropole Katoomba, the audience were packed in and settled down for a great night.

They especially enjoyed the special extra episode, Christmas Crackers, which has not been heard since it was first broadcast on Christmas Day 1953.

Some reviews of that night will be posted soon, but in the meantime, be sure to pick up some tickets for this weekend’;s shows; Saturday night 22nd Yulefest dinner & show, and Sunday 23rd afternoon tea and show.

The Sunday show is going be a very special one… it’s our 50th The Goon Show LIVE! performance.

2 tickets left for 15th July Yulefest dinner & show

Tonight’ Yulefest Dinner & Show is going to be HUGE!

The Metropole Hotel Katoomba will be bursting at the seams because we’ve sold all but the last two tickets for tonight’s show.

The Goon Show LIVE! is THE Best of British Comedy – and tonight you get it served up with a delicious Winter Yulefest Dinner; starting with Mulled Wine on arrival, a delightful 3-course meal and then the opportunity to linger over port and coffee as you mingle with the cast after the show.

The last 2 tickets are very lonely… Go on, adopt them.

What really happens before a show?

Pre-show is like a mad-house really

Come to think of it, that sums up the lads when they’re on-stage too.

Robin Queree on the telephone at the Metropole Jul17 (3)

Here’s young Robin ‘Spike’ Queree on the tele-phone before the show last Saturday.

Who’s he calling? Could it be You?

Come and join in the general melee of silliness at this Saturday’s dinner/show at the Metropole in Katoomba for Yulefest; it’ll be a night you’ll have to phone home about.

Those Goon-NUTS love The Goon Show LIVE!

a-bucket-of-GoonsThe World is FULL of Goon-type-NUTS

…and we’re pleased to note that a few of them turn up at our shows. At last Saturday’s Yulefest Dinner and Show, we had a room full of them.

One of their number was Gary from Rozelle, who sent us this wonderful note, which we’ve pasted here in full;

My Dad is a Goon Show nut and introduced me and my ears to the show at a very young age. When I heard there was a live version, I had to go and see it.

I can’t wait to tell my Dad, back in the old country, about it he (and his ears) will be extremely jealous.

The show was great! Three (and a bit) Goon Shows performed by a group of very impressive soundalike actor-type performers who were obviously enjoying it as much as I was.

The musical interludes featured a very impressive guitarist/vocalist who ably filled the spots of the indisposed Max Geldray and Ray Ellington. The performances were fitted between the courses of the meal we were having, which worked quite well.

It was a great evening – well worth the trip and the money and I’d recommend it to all comedy fans. After all, this is where it all began!

Exits.

Waits for next show to go to…

We couldn’t put it any better Gary – and thanks our steaming friend, we’d love to see you at another one of our shows.
