Election 2010 show, 19th August

Vote Hamlette for P.M.

Bryan will be hosting the next Ham Stakes show, which will be presented at Jack Thompson’s Hotel Gearin on Thursday 19th August.

The show, produced by Theatresports® Blue Mountains, will feature several teams of wonderful improvisers all ready to do their bit with this year’s how to vote card.

Naturally this will be a night of complete irreverence, where the audience will be given the opportunity to know the ‘real’ piggy mascot, Hamlette, who will be sincere and make promises that she knows she can keep.

Further information about this show can be found on the Theatresports® Blue Mountains website; www.theatresportsimpro.com.au.

Christmas in July show at Katoomba

HAM GOES TURKEY; A YULEFEST ‘HAM STAKES’ SHOW

A Christmas in July night’s entertainment full of naughty elves, jolly red hats and song – Blue Mountains style; Thursday 29th July.

After a successful inaugural ‘Ham Stakes’ show staged in June, Bryan is presenting another show… this time in keeping with the Blue Mountains’ Yulefest tradition.

Jack Thompson’s Hotel Gearin and Theatresports® Blue Mountains have teamed up to present the night of fun and frivolity again, with a not-to-be-missed Christmas in July special.

Produced and directed by Blue Mountains actor and director Bryan Cutts, this show will feature a cast of local skilled and talented performers who are already known to the improvised performance and theatre crowds in the Blue Mountains and Sydney scenes.

Joining the local Blue Mountains troupe for this show is a team of performers from Sydney, and a guest player from the Netherlands, Mark Dekker. These players regularly appear in Scared Scriptless, Sydney’s longest running improvised comedy show, presented every Friday at the Roxbury Hotel in Glebe.

The show is designed to provoke uncontrollable laughter, giving audiences the opportunity to let their hair down, be entertained and socialise in a relaxed and informal environment. Watch as improvisers battle it out creating instant sketch comedy based on audience suggestions.

Like the traditional Theatresports® shows in Sydney, around Australia and the globe, the Ham Stakes show will be presented as a knock-out competition. The teams of trained and experienced Theatresports® performers will stand toe-to-toe, using their imaginations and quick wit to create new worlds, amazing adventures and a whole plethora of strange characters.

Will the Deers give those Stocking Fillers a run for their money? Or perhaps Santa’s Naughty Elves will pull one over on the Turkey Stuffers… anything could happen!

Unlike traditional Theatresports®, this Yulefest show also features one of the Blue Mountains’ music icons, the Very Small Choir, who will be presenting a couple of Christmas ditties to set the mood. The VSC is a regular feature at the annual Rhododendron Revue and the Blackheath Choir Festival.

Another exciting part of the show is audience participation. To create the scenes, the performers will sometimes ask the audience for suggestions which will be weaved into the show. Often audience members provide names of characters and places, or quests for the characters and other weird and wonderful suggestions which give the performers new challenges to overcome in order to present great stories.

This Ham Stakes show will be a night where too much fun will be had by all.

Toothbrushes have their 'Macleans showing!'

Last night saw the culmination of all the hard work by the ‘A Toothbrush Tale’ team – with the final dress rehearsal at the Newtown Theatre being staged.

The short play by Anika Herbert, starring Claire Fearon and Joshua Crouthamel – and directed by Bryan for Short and Sweet Theatre Sydney – is a cute little story of Toothbrush love, personal discovery and uncalled-for “minty freshness” being forcefully imposed. …read more >>>
